Therapy for Trauma, Grief, and Eating Disorders in Evergreen, Colorado
People rarely come in with just one thing. An avalanche may not only result in trauma symptoms, but can also bring a deep well of grief. A difficult psychedelic experience can stir up old trauma. A move after military service can change a whole family's sense of home.
The areas below are where I have the most training and experience. If your situation spans more than one, or doesn't quite fit any of them, that's okay. We can sort it out together.
Areas I Focus On
Adventure Athletes and Their Families
For mountain bikers, skiers and snowboarders, surfers and paddlers, and other athletes facing trauma, life-altering injury, or the loss of someone close. I've been on both sides: competing in big mountain snowboarding and downhill biking, and supporting someone I loved in the aftermath of a severe traumatic brain injury.
Trauma, PTSD, and Life-Changing Events
Whether it's one event or experiences that added up over years, trauma can change how you see yourself, other people, and the world, often long after you've tried to move on. EMDR, IFS, and, when it fits, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy can help you heal, so the past has less impact on your life today.
Veterans, First Responders, and Service Families
For service members, veterans, and the people who love them, including spouses and adult children who absorbed what someone brought home, sometimes decades ago. As a child of a career military father and combat veteran, this world is familiar to me.
Grief and Traumatic Loss
The death of someone you love, and losses that may not be recognized by those around you: a person changed by injury or illness, a pet, a marriage, a career, a sense of who you were, or a life that didn't go the way you expected. Grief doesn't follow a set timeline, and you don't have to carry it alone.
Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating
For adults struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating. For 18 years, I've worked across every level of care, and I believe healing goes beyond a weight or nutrition goal: it means addressing what it grew out of and building a life that feels meaningful to you.
Difficult Psychedelic Experiences
Support when a psychedelic or spiritual experience was overwhelming, confusing, or still affects you, including when a guide or someone else present caused you harm. Maybe you feel anxious, unreal, or like something opened and won't close. A difficult journey isn't a personal failure, and you don't have to make sense of it alone.
Other Reasons People Come In
People also come in during major life changes: shifts in identity, work, or relationships, or a deepening spiritual life that's changing how they see the world. If that's where you are, you're welcome here too!
How I Work Across All of These
Whatever brings you in, the work starts with our relationship. I draw on EMDR and IFS, and we consider all of you: your body and nervous system, your history, your relationships, and your sense of meaning. When a clearer picture would help, a brief psychological assessment is also an option.
